What should a family do
immediately after a death?

Begin with where and how the death occurred. The process differs for a hospital, home, sudden or accidental death.

The most important first step

999。If you are unsure, call 999 first.

If the person suddenly becomes unresponsive, or you cannot confirm whether death has occurred, call 999 immediately and follow the operator's instructions.

Do not move the body yourself. For a sudden, unexplained, accidental or suspicious death, do not clean or alter the scene.
